I paint for many reasons. I paint to say what I see and feel, without words. I paint for the challenge in controlling the media, for the physical sensation of brushing the paint on the canvas, and the time studying what I have accomplished. I hope to find an audience, but that's secondary.

The beauty of an early morning landscape, the movement and light in falling water, the essential shapes and directional energy of objects, or personal experience, past or present, these call me for expression.

All of these are sources of inspiration for what I commit to canvas with oil crayon, paint and brushes, sticks and sponges. I work on a piece until I look at it long and hard and say to myself, "That's all I should do here."
